More exciting news for Lyerly, the town was recently awarded a grant of $99,700.00 from the Georgia
Department of Natural Resources-Recreational Trails Grant Program. The money will be used for improvements and access points on the Lower Chattooga River Canoe/Kayak Trail which starts in Lyerly at the Lyerly Dam Bridge. The trail will be 7.5 miles long and have three access points. Construction of the trail has been a joint venture of the Town of Lyerly and Chattooga County and the Coosa River Basin Initiative also recently became a partner on the project.

The Town of Lyerly, in beautiful Chattooga County, Georgia, has the small town charm of the old days. The town provides water & sewer service for it's citizens and water service to a large area outside the town limits as well as fire protection to the town and a large area surrounding it. The Town has a wonderful park with a walking track, pavilion, and two baseball fields. Lyerly is also home to Lyerly Elementary school, a K-8 school that has been here since 1889.
