The Town of Lyerly's Headlines
11/26/14 The Town of Lyerly has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation to assist with renovations to the recently donated downtown building that will become Lyerly's community center. The building was donated to the town by Mike Caldwell and his mother Louise Caldwell.
9/24/14 LYERLY DOWN HOME DAY is this Saturday!!! We have a record number of vendors this year with 47 signed up so far. It looks like we'll have great weather for the event also and we are expecting a great turnout. Flatline Bluegrass will be providing us with great live bluegrass music. We will have free inflatables for the kids, free hayrides all day, pony rides for $3, the Lyerly PTO is holding their annual Cow Patty Bingo with a $500 prize to the winner. The Lyerly Fire Department is also raffling off a Thompson Center Venture .270 Winchester w/Nikon 3x9x40 NEC Scope for $5.00 per chance. The BBQ cook off judging is at 12pm, and the ladies skillet toss will be at 1pm.
7/10/14 Sidewalk construction is complete, we are now installing crosswalks at intersections.
11/2/13 The new sidewalk connecting downtown Lyerly to Angus Mcleod Memorial is now open to pedestrians and cyclists. We hope everyone enjoys a safe way to walk/bike to the park!!! Pics of sidewalk below;
4/4/13 More exciting news for Lyerly, the town was recently awarded a grant of $99,700.00 from the GA
Department of Natural Resources-Recreational Trails Grant Program. The money will be used for improvements and access points on the Lower Chattooga River Canoe/Kayak Trail which starts in Lyerly at the Lyerly Dam Bridge. The trail will be 7.5 miles long and have three access points. Construction of the trail has been a joint venture of the Town of Lyerly and Chattooga County and the Coosa River Basin Initiative also recently became a partner on the project.

CDBG- construction completed!
GEFA- construction completed!
Lyerly/Summerville EIP Project 12" line to Mohawk (part of ARC grant)-
Sewer pond upgrades (part of ARC grant)- construction completed!
Lift station to provide sewer to Smith Ironworks (part of ARC grant)-
Lift station and forced main along HWY 114 are complete. Waiting on GA Power to set pole and run lines.
The Town of Lyerly, in beautiful Chattooga County, Georgia, has the small town charm of the old days. The town provides water & sewer service for it's citizens and water service to a large area outside the town limits as well as fire protection to the town and a large area surrounding it. The Town has a wonderful park with a walking track, pavilion, and two baseball fields. Lyerly is also home to Lyerly Elementary school, a K-8 school that has been here since 1889.
